Living Museum of the Culture of Hemp Processing

hemp Under a long shed, last real town feel that still exists in San Bernardo, was preserved and handed down the skilful culture of hemp processing and manufacturing of strings, one of the oldest crafts of our area. Hemp cultivation and production of fibers manufactured from this area of Carmarthen has ancient origins: for hundreds of years the trade of raw fiber ropes and sturdy flourished nationally and internationally. The Living Museum of the culture of hemp production is located in a "feel" (processing path) original (built in 1905 and used until the mid 50's) located in Borgo San Bernardo: under a long canopy are preserved ancient tools and an extensive documentation relating to work and trade that involved most of the local population. Purpose of the museum are passing on the history and culture of processing and manufacturing of ropes, and not to squander the wealth of tools used during long time.
