One of the most famous (along with House Cavassa) civic buildings of Carmagnola. Keep lines of an ancient nobility and solemn, even if its different parts, including the main front on the square, have been already many years ago, changes and adaptations.
It 's very likely that the building, like other neighbors, was originally built in the mid-fifteenth century, as suggest, on the side facing away Lomellini, the late Gothic arches of the porch, in the middle of the towel' 700. Even the upper floors of the same wing are still legible signs of Gothic windows, mullioned windows, framed tiles, mostly now walled up, and windows were open oval.
The first news of this historic building, in relation to the family Lomellini that was perhaps originally from Genoa, dating from the early '600. In 1613 and again in 1687, in fact, that family members deliver their noble weapon. The entire building has exposed brick surfaces and the overall character is of great severity, tempered by elegant and bands in relief, also in brick and curved, horizontally to divide the facade into five fields.
When completed will once again host the Civic Gallery of Contemporary Art. In his living room, a noble and refined lines, some embellished with exquisite coffered ceilings, you will return to host exhibitions and art exhibitions as well as other cultural activities. On the side facing the courtyard, Palazzo Lomellini opened with a series of loggias, very airy, with round arches, Renaissance-style, set on columns or pillars. Now the lodges were closed with glazing.
